Travel Forums Asia nudity beach in phuket. Is the nude beach for swimming or staring? The thai are actually quite modest people despite the Patpong image. I don't think it is encouraged on the beaches or anywhere for that matter. You can find alot of girlie bars though I seen 2 old ladies with big saggy's near me at Patong Beach yesterday.

So yes it is 'allowed', in that you won't be arrested, but if you do it you'll be showing a total lack of respect to the locals. Your call. This is frowned upon in Thai culture and you will almost never see a Thai doing it. Nevertheless going topless on some beaches on Ko Samui , Phuket , Ko Pha-Ngan and other very touristic islands is commonplace. The locals here are used to foreigners and don't care so much. In less touristic places, particulary where there are Thai families on holiday, it is considered rude and offensive. But some tourist don't have any respect for that. Going nude at beaches is illegal in Thailand and is impossible pretty much everywhere. If you really want to do this, your best bet is to find somewhere remote, where you are not sure not to be seen. No billiard balls in stockings allowed..
Thailand is home to some of the most beautiful tropical beaches in Asia. The palm trees, crystal waters, and warm temperatures all make for one amazing beach getaway. However, the Thais have been known to be a little more conservative when it comes to proper beach attire. This means if you have nude beach Thailand in mind, you might want to keep your towel on first. Nude beaches in Thailand are not openly welcome and encouraged. At the southernmost tip of Phuket sits Nui Beach, one of the nude beaches for the carefree beachgoers.
